Abstract: |
<summary>A watching brief was maintained in three places along the Wiltshire section of a pipeline from Calne, Wiltshire to Fairford, Gloucestershire. Five areas of archaeological interest were identified within the three stretches of pipeline: the trenches appeared to cut through plough-reduced ridge and furrow to the north of the deserted settlement at Lower Beversbrook Farm; a collection of 22 sherds of medieval pottery, a flint tool and a flake were recovered from a spoil-tip adjacent to a field boundary at SU097847; an east-west aligned ditch was observed at SU112875; remains of substantial ridge and furrow were found in fields around SU152952; and the foundation remains of a limestone and brick-built barn were found to the north of the A419 (T) at SU132928. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
