An archaeological assessment, carried out in advance of the upgrading of the A66 to dual carriageway, discovered numerous archaeological sites with potential ranging from national to local importance. The summary of the report highlighted a number of potential sites which warrents further investigation, including Iron Age, Roman and early medieval settlement/agricultural activity. [AIP] |
