Abstract: |
During monitoring of overburden stripping operations in advance of mineral extraction, a patch of burnt stone within a small oval pit was recorded on the edge of an infilled palaeochannel. Augering of the eastern edge of the palaeochannel did not located any further trace of burnt stones, suggesting that if a burnt mound had existed close to the pit, it had either been much smaller than the burnt mound previously recorded to the north, or the mound had been located to the north of the pit in the area already stripped of overburden.
