Abstract: |
The watching brief, which was carried out during trenching for telecommunications cables, revealed layers and features of middle Saxon, medieval and later date. These included middle Saxon occupation layers, possible evidence for former roads and medieval to post-medieval plough and garden soils. Deposits of stone and other building materials were probably associated with post-medieval or later demolition and rebuilding at St Mary's church and the Deanery. [Au(Adp)] |
