Abstract: |
Groundworks for the construction of a single unit of flats were monitored. Although the conditions for identifying medieval remains were poor, the small quantitiy of pottery recovered from the site did not indicate dense activity here. More recent 18th-19th centiry development was shown to have caused widespread disturbance to a depth of almost 1m in some places, atlhough earlier archaeological remains could have survived under possible land raising deposits (although the watching brief was not able to prove this aspect).
