Abstract:		 <summary>A watching brief was maintained on five pits dug as part of a stabilisation programme for the boundary wall along Precentors Court. The site had been the location of one of the palaces of the archbishops of York from {italon}circa{italoff} 1100; the palace underwent major renovation in the mid 17th century, but was eventually demolished (by 1830). The excavations produced evidence of an earlier wall, as well as material which seemed to correlate with the rebuilding work of the 17th century and the later demolition. {italon}AIP{italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} 1991.1016 (YAT investigation identification no)
