Abstract: |
Monitoring of the re-excavation of a sewerage pipe trench running down the slope to the west of the Old Hall at Hardwick, and trenching for electricity cables, recovered a few articles of 19th century date and revealed a narrow stone 'wall' representing garden edging of no great antiquity, the foundations of the doorway threshold of the West Lodge, and a small probable boundary feature.
