Abstract: |
Assessment, comprising desk-based study and a walkover survey identified eight archaeological sites which would be to some degree affected by the proposed route of a new dual carriageway to replace the existing A50 between Sudbury and Uttoxeter. The sites comprised a probable shrunken medieval village and associated ridge and furrow earthworks; a cropmark site; the site of a former farmstead; four areas comprising earthworks representative of quarrying, ridge and furrow cultivation and other activities; and a medieval masonry bridge.
