Abstract: |
The evaluation showed that the natural level of the ground sloped from east to west and, in the central and western areas, medieval deposits dating to the late 12th? to 15th centuries were encountered. Near the frontage of West Castle Street stratified medieval deposits reached a depth of over 600mm with finds fairly common. Occupation relating to the early development of the town was indicated.
