Abstract: |
A desk top study was undertaken concentrating on recorded aspects of past landuse, management and ownership in order to provide the background information for the future management of the Sizewell Belts SSSI. Documentary and cartographic sources were searched indicating a complex land use history, with virtually all of the Study Area formerly being common land belonging to Leiston Abbey. This study also highlighted the smuggling era exploiting the remoteness of Sizewell as an illicit landing place. [Au(abr)] |
