Abstract: |
<summary>A watching brief during construction of a man-hole revealed part of the city's defensive ditch. At the end of the Medieval period, this medieval feature was covered by laminated surfaces interpreted as a road, which was later cobbled. These features suggest that this area was more strongly defended than other parts of the city, and this may relate to the route taken by the king into the city from Woodstock. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
