Abstract: |
A second phase of detailed non-intrusive archaeological and ecological survey of Gunnerside Gill was undertaken as a prelude to an anticipated programme of conservation work. The nature of the archaeological remains vary considerably, but the various structural and other lead mining remains have deteriorated significantly since abandonment. A provisional grading system was established to assess the state of preservation of the remains and initial recommendations were made for appropriate conservation and management. [Au(abr)] |
