Abstract: |
A desk-top study of the proposed site of a hotel and golf course was undertaken. A Scheduled Ancient Monument, the iron age hillfort of Holwood Camp, extended over part of the site, and two Roman inhumations and a lamp had previously been found. Numerous mesolithic, iron age and Roman sites and findspots were known in the surrounding area; bronze age and neolithic sites had also been recorded. It was concluded that further evaluation and field survey would be necessary. [AIP] |
