Abstract: |
It appeared likely that the earliest buildings on the site were constructed in the medieval period facing onto the northern section of Bury Street and it was probable that foundations of these or other early structures survived beneath the existing car-parking and planting. Late medieval buildings were probably also constructed along the western branch of Bury Street but evidence of these would probably have been removed by a post-medieval malthouse. Evidence of the malthouse would have almost certainly survived beneath the existing planting. Any former archaeological remains to the western section of the site would have been removed by Burymead House. [Au(adp)] |
