Abstract: |
An excavation was carried out in advance of the proposed restoration of the gardens of Highcliffe Castle. It was undertaken to identify the layout and to test the level of survival of a 19th century parterre or formal garden feature. Most of the layout of the original parterre was found to survive, although the north-eastern portion had been destroyed. [Au] |
