Abstract: |
A programme of evaluation work, comprising an earthworks survey, trial trenching and a watching brief was undertaken on land along the route of the Wells Relief Road. The majority of features recorded were post medieval agricultural features, with associated finds. Flint artefacts were also recovered which indicated prehistoric activity across a wide time-span from late Upper Palaeolithic to late Bronze Age. Of special interest was a small cottage of extremely slight construction which indicated very low status which do not tend to survive well, built in the late 18th century. [AIP] |
