Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks at the site of new public toilets. A large quantity of 12th-14th century pottery had been recovered nearby, and thousands of clay pipe fragments had been found at the site in 1938. These may have represented waste from 17th-18th century pipe kilns known to have existed in Newbury. During the watching brief, no archaeological deposits or artefacts were observed. [Au(abr)] |
