Abstract: |
Two trenches were excavated a site propsoed for development to the rear of numbers 15, 17 and 19 St Augustines Gate, located in the heart of the medieval town of Hedon. Two large boundary ditches of 15th century date, which had cut through a 13th and 14th century layer, were revealed. The ditches had been allowed to silt up and levelling dumps containing mainly 16th century material were deposited. A break in occupation until the late 18th or early 19th century was identified, when brick structures and a well were constructed. [Au] |
