Abstract: |
A detailed magnetic survey conducted across 12.4ha located a number of geophysical anomalies within the fourteen separate survey areas. The location of a strong magnetic anomaly in the north of the site may be associated with a former coal pit. Two areas contain positive linear anomalies indicating the line of removed field boundaries. Positive linear anomalies in several areas may indicate cut features but it was difficult to define them as archaeological features. Many of the survey areas showed parallel linear anomalies caused by agricultural activity. In the west of the site modern areas of dumping and burning affected the results of the magnetic survey possibly obscuring any lower magnitude anomalies that may have been present. [Au(abr)] |
