Abstract: |
<summary>Two trial-pit excavations were recorded to determine the general stratigraphy of the surrounding area in advance of proposed flood defence work. The final 0.1m of the first pit, dug to a depth of 0.6m, contained mortar flecks, tile and brick fragments, and pieces of animal bone; this deposit was probably of medieval date. The second pit exposed the inner and outer faces of the river wall; the infill between the two walls was of a modern nature. No archaeological deposits were located. {italon}AIP{italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} 1991.1006 (YAT investigation identification no) |
