Abstract: |
The assessment was undertaken of the route of the proposed pipeline. Knowledge of the region's archaeological potential mostly came from aerial photographs and stray finds. There had been no previous systematic field-based research in the study corridor. Four locally important sites and/or sites of uncertain character and/or dates were identified which would be directly affected: Watling Street Roman Road, and cropmarks of possible enclosures, ditches, and pits.
