Abstract: |
The findings in two of the four trenches excavated made a significant contribution to the history of the Bishop's Palace. Although only a small area was glimpsed, it was apparent that the footings revealed were from a substantial building, appropriate for an earlier "Abbot's House", from the 13th or 14th century. A gravel surface was also revealed but its relationship to the wall footings was not firmly established. [Au(adp)] |
