The remains of a sequence of buildings dating from the sixteenth century were revealed; these are presumed to have been used as warehouses until their demolition in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Discusses the water-powered textile mill at Crag Works, Wildboarclough (Cheshire). The building includes cast iron beams in its structure and recently discovered documentary evidence dates its construction to the 1790s, making it broadly contemporary with the earliest known examples of iron-framed buildings.
