Abstract
Stationary threshing set at Windhouse Farm, Mid Yell, Shetland
J K Harrison
265 - 268
Note outlining the historical background to a rare surviving water-powered threshing set at a late 19th century model farm in Shetland. A field sketch showing the arrangement of parts and the system of drives is presented, and it is noted that the machine could be put to use again with a few minor repairs. LD
Formal Opening of Scott's Pit, Llansamlet, Swansea
P R Reynolds
268 - 271
Note on the investigation and restoration of the engine house and associated buildings of an early 19th century coal mine at Llansamlet on the north-eastern edge of Swansea. Excavation around the engine house revealed an interesting complex of buildings. The project was declared open in 1980, although it was hoped that further work would be undertaken at the site later that year. LD
