Abstract
Lindow Man: an ancient body from a Cheshire bog summary account
Ian M Stead
Rick Turner
1 - 14
The medieval moated sites of Cheshire
David M Wilson
143 - 154
Distribution map of about 200 known sites, varying from ¼-acre to over 1½ acres, often on sites chosen for their water-retentive properties. Documents indicate the presence of other buildings on the platform, and a secondary use for stocking fish is evident. Few have been excavated in Cheshire, but two explored by author date from 12th century.
Examination of a cross from Brindle, Lancashire
J P Squirrell
155 - 159
A clearly marked dark stain in the 37th growth ring of a tree was identified as a cross carved in the bark about 144 years ago and kept open for some time. A possible historical context is suggested.
A pre-Reformation chasuble and its links with the Manchester collegiate church
