Report on six sites (four in Kilmaniheen West and two in Knockbrack) located as a result of intensive test trenching along the course of the scheme, and excavated. The sites comprised a small fulacht fiadh with an unlined oval trough dated to the tenth to twelfth centuries BC in Kilmaniheen West townland; a second fulacht fiadh, again in Kilmaniheen West, dated to the ninth to tenth centuries BC with an oak-lined trough; an iron-smelting site with some evidence for smithing dated to between the second and seventh centuries AD in Knockbrack townland; a single pit containing charred cereal grains and dated to the seventh century AD, again in Knockbrack; a group of nineteen pits used for the production of charcoal and dated to the ninth to twelfth centuries AD in Kilmaniheen West; and three stone-built, early-nineteenth-century vernacular buildings, again in Kilmaniheen West. Following an introduction to the study area and the corpus of material to be considered, the article discusses the materiality of the ogham stones of the Dingle Peninsula and in particular of a specific type (Minard type) of ogham stone monument, in a bid to explore and highlight the meanings and significances such stones may have had in the past. The article also investigates the known source (Minard Beach) of this specific type of stone, evaluating the relationship between source and end point, while also discussing the various reasons and significances for the procurement of these stones at this particular source. Following on the government decision to change the official name of the town of Dingle to An Daingean, the author attempts to trace the onomastic history of the town, offering evidence for the various forms of name used from 1252 to the present.

Notes on the wreck of the brig Veronica, which sank at Inch in 1828, and on the story of one of the Minard coastguards involved in the rescue of survivors.
