Abstract: |
Limited excavation of features including a shell midden, first observed eroding from a sand dune, revealed a series of stone walls (some of which appeared to be buildings) and buried soil horizons (possibly agricultural). A decorated bone pin and antler comb suggest activity on the site ranging from pre-Viking (eighth century) to late Norse periods (twelfth to fourteenth century). Appendices (24) summarise field records. |
