A wall crossing the Down and a ?settlement enclosure with annexe are not necessarily contemporary with the Neo-BA ceremonial monuments on the ridge, but indicate the area's agricultural potential at that time. Au (abr)

A complete structure and part of the church were examined, the church being in fine condition with wall paintings. Documentary and archaeological evidence combine to suggest a 12th century origin for the excavated structures, the church continuing to c 1540, apparently in parallel with another church in the manor, both under monastic patronage.
