Reports the excavation of 1,424 coins, comprising copper alloy nummi of Diocletian and his co-regents and immediate successors, down to early coins of Constantine I. The latest coins in the hoard date to c.310--11, and were produced in various mints, including: London, Trier, Lyon, Ticinum, Rome, Aquileia, and Heraclea. Includes a specialist report on:

Examines the known dies of Henry II's Cross-and-Crosslets type (1158--80 AD) that were manufactured by the Ipswich Mint. Features a catalogue of some eighty-five dies.

Discusses the symbolism on a series of coins of Fausta, wife of the Emperor Constantine, which depict a female figure holding two children at her breasts. The image is similar to that of the Romano-Celtic Dea Nutrix, represented throughout Gaul and to a lesser extent in Britain.

Largely historical, notes the weight of gold and silver coins produced by the city during the first three years of Henry IV's reign.
