Abstract: |
The author questions the reliance of current theoretical approaches to the Early Mesolithic on the Star Carr interpretational model, and considers the problem of typological and chronological resolution, arguing for the re-incorporation of socio-cultural studies into the approach to Early Mesolithic settlement. The study takes the form of six independent analyses of new and existing data, each concerned with one of the specified topics of research: typology, technology, chronology, environment, settlement, and origins or affinities. The author concludes by bringing together the results of these analyses into a revised model of settlement in Britain during the Early Mesolithic. Includes a glossary. |
