Volume composed of three separate reports on archaeological excavations carried out between 1997 and 2000 at the site of the Roman roadside settlement at Wilcote in Oxfordshire, on the Roman road between St Albans (Verulamium) and Cirencester (Corinium). The reports \r\ndescribe three separate, but linked, excavations and the associated finds and include a discussion of the context, origin and development of the settlement and its role as part of the local villa economy, as a production site for building and road maintenance materials, and as a centre for local trade and for processing agricultural produce. Evidence was revealed of brick and tile production and stone quarrying; of an abattoir processing animals produced locally; of involvement in the manufacture and repair of metal goods; and of the probable existence of a temple or shrine in or near the settlement.
