Abstract: |
Archive material at Colchester Museum relating to the Laver excavations (1924) has been re-examined. The richest Late Iron Age burial in Britain differs considerably from the Welwyn burials, particularly in having a folding stool of ceremonial type; it is argued that the cremated person was closely connected with the Roman world. Discussion of late Iron Age and Roman barrows traces their origin to Gallia Belgica. |
