Abstract: |
Begins by presenting the results of recent field surveys of seven moated sites, revealing that most are more complex in their design than previously thought. The evidence is then placed in its wider context, drawing on documentary sources to demonstrate that the medieval landscape of northern Bedfordshire lacked the rigorous degree of planning encountered in other Midland counties. |
