Abstract:
Excavations of a section across three successive timber revetments on the W bank of the river Hull are detailed. The second phase revetment (early-mid 14th century) survived to its full height of nearly 3½m, complete with posts, cross-beams, shutters, braces, and joists. A dendrochronological curve for Hull has been established and considerable quantities of organic material and pottery were obtained.
