Grove House gardens History Week excavation May 2002
Dave Warren
1 - 4
Reports that the excavation revealed eight postholes and a couple of smaller stake holes in a curved line, possibly representing part of a roundhouse. The projected course of an Iron Age/Romano-British ditch was not found, however a ditch cutting across the south east corner of the excavation was revealed. The recovered pottery ranged in date from the Late Iron Age to the post-medieval period. A large amount of medieval tile was also found.
