Abstract: |
Fifty-one samples of Late Saxon to later medieval pottery from Eckweek were thin sectioned for fabric characterisation, which showed nine broad fabric groupings. It was difficult to match these fabrics with previous petrological work done on pottery in the area, though the Ironstone group may be connected with Cheddar Fabric E. The majority of the pottery could well have been made at no great distance from Eckweek. |
