Abstract: |
Examination of material from a deposit which accumulated after c AD 296, during an interruption in the occupation of the villa. Some of the most numerous seeds were from weeds, including some which require warm habitats, and are uncommon (except as casuals) in Britain now, notably henbane and cotton thistle. These finding have been compared with those from other Roman wells as an aid to understanding as much as possible of the Roman landscape. |
