Abstract:
First on site was a poor, ?civilian cremation cemetery, c 75-125; iron nails added to some cremations. Fragmentary timber structures, quarry pits (to AD 150); then irregular inhumations. The site raises new problems about the extent and status of the town, but provides some dietary evidence (animal bones, large quantities of Spanish amphorae).
