Abstract
Prehistoric habitation sites on the limestone uplands of eastern Cumbria: a survey of the area between Shap and Kirkby Stephen
James Cherry

10
Reports five years' fieldwork over ten main areas, plus a pipeline survey. Flint, chert, volcanic tuff, and even quartz were exploited in what began as a Late Meso occupation with some adoption of Neo technology. Significant contact with E Yorkshire was found, and a series of occupations (summer seasons?) is postulated. There was also Late Neo/EBA material and the pottery is Peterborough, Grooved Ware, Beaker, and a heavily gritted fabric. The area contains stone circles, ring cairns, mounds, etc. Contributions from T G Manby, R V Davis, C I Fell and A C H Olivier.
