Abstract: |
Reports excavations on a series of ditched enclosures and droveways laid out along the Fen edge in 2nd millennium BC. Three small settlements associated with the system are described and evidence for hedges, banks, metalworking, salt-evaporation, and possible lime-burning is reviewed. The pottery and flints are of 2nd millennium BC type, and the flints are discussed in the light of other Fengate assemblages. Post-2nd millennium BC material includes a Roman road, the Fen Causeway. Numerous environmental specialist reports, and a series of thirty-four 14C dates. Au(adp) |
