Abstract: |
an archaeological Watching Brief, was carried out on a programme of under pinning works at 417-419 New Cross Road, London Borough of Lewisham. This involved the excavation of multiple under pinning pits, across the line of foundations, on the site. The pits ran either side of the garden area to support and strengthen existing walls and buildings. A buried garden soil was observed under a tarmac surface and concrete footings. A 19th- 20th century deposit of made ground overlie natural sandy clay. Of the deposits observed, none were deemed to be of significant archaeological value. |
