Abstract:		 A magnetometer survey was commissioned by WSP Environmental on land to the south east of St Mawgan Rectory in Cornwall. The survey was requested ahead of ground work associated with the proposed introduction of a ground source heat pump. The survey, carried out over 1.2ha, located a number of positive linear, discrete and amorphous anomalies that may relate to ditch-like and pit-like features. Due to the nature of the underlying geology and shallow soils many of these anomalies may be natural in origin; however, it is possible that some may be of anthropogenic origin. Several negative linear anomalies forming a rectilinear pattern were located. These anomalies are parallel to the extant field boundaries in the area and may relate to former land divisions.
