Abstract: |
Monitoring of groundworks associated with the formation of a new wildlife reserve at Vange Marsh North took place during October 2005 and March/April 2006. A possible red hill and a pit may be evidence of Roman salt extraction activities on the marsh edge. Medieval layers and backfilled water channels indicated localised activity, including arable farming and perhaps near-by occupation, during the 12th to 13th century. |
