Abstract: |
Evaluation on land off Ropes Drive/Bell Lane, Kesgrave, was required to investigate the archaeological potential of the site. Two undated, burnt pits were recorded and one abraded sherd of medieval pottery was found within a layer of subsoil. A standing earthwork, comprising a bank and ditch, was present in the wooded north east corner of the site. Documentary evidence suggests that this is the boundary of a wood which was established by 1723 and probably has much earlier origins. |
