Abstract: |
Two trenches were excavated. The entire site had undergone significant disturbance as a result of the construction and demolition of the Tankerville Arms Public House. Below the levels of modern disturbance a sequence of London and Terrace Gravels with truncated post medieval soil horizons were preserved. No archaeological features were presents. A geoarchaeological assessment was also undertaken which entailed the excavation of a borehole at the base of Trench 2 to clarify the origins of the clay deposits observed. |
