Abstract:
As the result of an archaeological condition on the planning permission for the development of a commercial fishery at Burnt Land, Vinegar Hill, Hatch, Bedfordshire, the Heritage Network was commissioned by the owner to monitor the construction groundworks. Within the footprint of the eastern pond two Iron Age pits were identified. In addition, a pond, two post/stake holes, and two modern ditches were recorded. The western pond contained the truncated remains of a ridge and furrow field system and its probable boundary ditch. Three other ditches were observed, at least two of which appear to pre-date the ridge and furrow.
