Abstract: |
An Archaeological evaluation was conducted by Ian Farmer Associates Archaeological Services in 2007 on behalf of the owner in advance of proposed garage building. The area of development lay in the vicinity of the Roman Road of Dere Street. Two trial trenches were excavated. The first trench revealed little evidence of the Roman Road or any significant archaeological deposits. The second trench revealed two ditches, the eastern ditch may have been recut at least twice. No trances of the road appear to have survived. An alternative suggestion for the eastern ditch may be a robber trench for a stone culvert. No further work is recommended. |
