Abstract: |
Assessment of the historic fabric of the grade II* listed Launde Abbey, in respect of proposals to alter and extend the building, which functions as a Church of England retreat house and conference centre. The Augustinian Priory of St. John the Baptist was founded on the site in the early 12th century. At the dissolution it went to Thomas Cromwell and was converted into a country house by his son Gregory, incorporating various priory buildings. It was enlarged and altered in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. |
