This document introduces an archaeological assessment of parts of two planning zones in central Birmingham, designated the Digbeth Economic Regeneration Area (ERA) and the Cheapside Industrial Area (IA) which together comprise almost one third of the medieval town. The report, which is the first of its kind comissioned for the city centre, introduces the overall aims and objectives of the assessment, discussing the methodologies and types of sources utilised in relation to the results obtained from desk-top and fieldwork study. |
