Abstract:		 This report desrcibes the results of historic town-plan analysis and archaeological evaluation of Manzoni Gardens and its surrounding area in Birmingham City Centre. Analysis of the historical development of Manzoni Gardens suggest that it played an important role in Birmingham''s earliest development. subsequent archaeological evaluation of the site, by trial trenching, demonstrated that the evidence relating to this role had been removed by groundworks associated with the 19th-century market hall and with the 1960''s creation of the Bull Ring and its asscoaited landscaped areas.
